Introduction:
India is one of the largest film-making countries in the world. Every year, hundreds of movies are made and released in our country. These movies are generally watched by the youth of our country. When we watch something in audio-visual form, it impacts our minds deeply. There are many types of movies made. Some are good, and some are good for society and youth. Movies are creating both positive and negative impacts on youth.
Positive Impact of Movies on Youth:
- We can remember many movies that are based on armed forces and patriotism, like Border, Lakshya, etc. These movies not only give us deep information about the armed forces but also inspire us to join the armed forces.
- There are many movies like Panipat and Jodha Akbar that give us information about the history of India in an interesting way. Also, movies like Bahubali make us proud of our Indian culture and tradition.
- Presently, when many children are leaving their parents and want to live in a nuclear family, a movie like Bagbaan teaches us to respect our parents.
- Movies like Dangal teach us about gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- In our film industry, this is the era of biopics. Through M. S. Dhoni, Bhag Milkha Bhag, and Mary Kom, we learn about the struggles of famous personalities, get inspiration, and develop a never-give-up attitude.
- Our film industry provides many employment opportunities. Lakhs of people work in the Hindi, Telegu, Tamil, and other film industries. Be it actors, technicians, or other staff, there are also many movie theatres where people work and earn their livelihood.
- Our movies are not only seen in India but also in other countries. This way, the culture and traditions of our countries are promoted to other countries. Like Dangal, Secret Superstar did excellent business in a country like China.

The negative impact of movies on youth:
- These days, the makers of movies are only running after money. The only goal of moviemakers is to make more and more profit. So, when they make any movie, they add those elements, which will be very helpful in generating business. This way, they sometimes promote the wrong thing among youth.
- Generally, in our movies, the hero is shown as involved in stalking the girl. In the name of love, he is shown chasing and teasing a girl. These things impact us very badly in our youth. That’s why we are seeing increasing cases of stalking and molestation in our country.
- Smoking and drinking scenes are very common in movies. Even nowadays, many movies project drug addiction on the screen. Although a disclaimer is shown, smoking or drinking is injurious to health. But still, youth sometimes get influenced by movies and are involved in these things.
- Movies encourage youth to take revenge. In movies, the hero is found to take revenge using any means. This, in turn, is followed by the youth.
- Movies also teach how to do sophisticated crime. After a movie called Special 26, many youths were found conducting raids by becoming fake CBI officers. Even bank robbery and murder are learned through movies.
- Movies always depict a luxurious lifestyle and rarely show middle-class lives. This leads to an increase in a consumeristic society, and the worst impact will be on youth.
Conclusion:
Everything has good and bad things in it. It is we who can decide whether to grab good things or bad things. In the same way, movies can have a very good impact on the minds of our youngsters if they learn to catch all the good aspects or take the vulgarity and bad things.
